The abomination was the practice of sex between men as a ceremonial worship unto God. The abomination is not making reference to same-gender committed relationship. Neither is there anything in the scriptures that calls for believers to judge, condemn, persecute, oppress or discriminate against any person. Second, I am always happy to hear from courageous progressive religionists such as the Rev. Eric P. Lee. I just respectfully part company with them when they maintain that their reactionary counterparts are quoting out of context. That raises a question that might not be so obvious: Could PROGRESSIVE religionists ever be guilty of quoting out of context? In any case, the Bible does not clearly defend same-sex relationships.
