For 20 years Ann Druyan was married to astronomer Carl Sagan, and was a full partner in his mission to make science understandable and exciting for everyone. She was one of the writers for the television series Cosmos, and a producer of the feature film Contact. Ann Druyan is the CEO and co-founder of Cosmos Studios.
Druyan co-wrote the books Comet and Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, as well as sections of The Demon-Haunted World, with her late husband Carl Sagan. In addition, she wrote the introduction to The Cosmic Connection, and the epilogue to Billions and Billions, both by Sagan, and most recently wrote the introduction to the posthumously published collection of Dr. Sagan’s Lectures titled “Varieties of the Scientific Experience” In her writings, Ann Druyan stresses that people can have a sense of awe and wonder about the unity of the cosmos without introducing the concept of God.
Earlier this fall we recorded a full length interview with Ann Druyan which had initially been originally recorded for our recent fund drive this September but as it happened we only had time to play a few segments from it so tonight we will be playing our full interview with Ann Druyan completely. Please join us tonight as we reflect on Dr. Sagan’s legacy and Ann shares her views on everything from the new atheists of today to way that Dr. Sagan’s work continues to be held in high esteem, by young scientists and astronomers today.
